ABOUT
TRACHEAL/BRONCHIAL WASH
A lower airway washing procedure may be recommended for patients with respiratory disease. Samples are collected to analyze for infection and to guide anti-microbial therapy. Cytology analysis is also typically performed by a veterinary pathologist to help to identify the cause for the respiratory symptoms.

This procedure requires heavy sedation or anesthesia and is often coupled with a bronchoscopy procedure.
